At the Southern Africa (SoAfr) School of Project Management, we bring the real world into the classroom with our "Project Management in Practice" series. This innovative segment is a part of every project management module in our academic programs. It invites seasoned project professionals to share their valuable insights and experiences, which helps students connect academic concepts to practical applications.

What is the "Project Management in Practice" Series?

In each session, students have the opportunity to learn directly from industry experts who bring theoretical concepts to life through real-world examples. These guest speakers share their journeys, challenges, and successes to illustrate how project management principles are applied in their day-to-day work.

For face-to-face modules, the experience is enhanced with a shared lunch hosted by SoAfrsPM.  This provides an informal setting for deeper conversations and networking. For online modules, guest speakers join virtually, but we still maintain the same level of engagement for our students.

Recent Highlights

• PM Module 1: Foundations of Project Management: During this module, our Project Management in Practice speaker shared his expertise in setting up and leading Project Management Offices (PMOs). He emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement and integrating change management for successful outcomes.

• PM Module 2: Project Planning (Part 1): Our guest speaker captivated our students by demonstrating how to effectively plan for scope, schedule, cost, and quality. He shared actionable strategies for implementing regular quality checks and resolving project deliverable issues.  He also provided students with practical tools to exceed stakeholder expectations.
