An Adventure for Advancement: Cycling with Purpose, Pedaling for Progress
Launched in 2024, Pedal for Project Management is SoAfrSPM’s annual cycling initiative that raises funds to support scholarships, social impact projects, and project management research. Our annual "Pedal for Project Management" initiative traces new paths across the landscapes of countries where SoAfrSPM has made its home: Namibia, Zambia, and the United States.
Pedal for Project Management is a movement. As we cycle, we physically and metaphorically propel forward the cause of project management—raising awareness, fostering community engagement, and championing the power of well-managed projects to transform lives.

In 2025, the Southern Africa (SoAfr) School of Project Management (SoAfrSPM) returned to the road for our annual cycling initiative, Pedal for Project Management — a bold, purpose-driven journey that combines endurance sport with professional impact. All week, our team celebrated the values that make both cycling and project management powerful: preparation, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
In the months leading up to the ride, our team trained consistently to prepare for the physical and mental demands, cluding early morning rides, hill training, weekend endurance sessions, and nutrition planning. A key milestone was our Spring Tuneup (4–6 April 2025) in Morgan County, Georgia, where riders completed distances ranging from 20 miles (32 km) to 100 miles (161 km).
