Overview
The Southern Africa (SoAfr) School of Project Management’s Run for Social Impact Team brings together fitness, teamwork, fundraising, and community impact. Following the inaugural Run for Social Impact Team in 2026, we are running again in 2027 and setting an even more ambitious goal.
In August 2027, the team will participate in the Bank Windhoek Big Red Run in Windhoek, Namibia. Together, team members will work toward raising N$150,000 in support of Read to Rise, SoAfrSPM’s social impact initiative focused on delivering 25,000+ books to under-resourced schools and communities across Namibia and strengthening spaces where children can read and learn.
Team members can choose to participate in the 5 km, 10 km, or half marathon (21 km), which makes the team accessible to runners and walkers at different fitness and experience levels.
Each team member will run with purpose as they each commit to raising NAD 10,000 for the cause.
Purpose

Fundraising Support to Team Members
You do not have to be an experienced fundraiser to join the team. SoAfrSPM will provide resources to help team members confidently reach out to individuals, companies, colleagues, friends, and family members. Fundraising support will include:
Sample fundraising emails and messages.
Social media templates and campaign content.
Corporate sponsorship letter templates.
Fundraising ideas and strategies.
Fundraising tracking tools.
Recognition of donors and sponsors on SoAfrSPM platforms, where appropriate.
Regular fundraising check-ins and accountability.
Opportunities to participate in collective team fundraising activities.
Fundraising takes place over a 10-month period, from November 2026 to August 2027. Each team member is asked to raise at least N$10,000 toward the team’s overall fundraising goal. Spread across 10 months, this equates to an average of N$1,000 per month, which makes the fundraising target both realistic and achievable. Rather than raising the full amount at once, team members can build momentum gradually by engaging friends, family, colleagues, professional networks, and potential sponsors throughout the campaign.
